Today (19/03/2010) Mayor of the City of Košice František Knapík received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Slovak Republic, Inna Ohnivets on the premises of the Historical Town Hall.
The meeting was held on the occasion of completion of her diplomatic mission in Slovakia.
"Although I have lived seven years in a foreign country, I felt like home. Slovakia will remain in my heart and especially Kosice, "said the Ambassador.
She expressed her thanks for supporting Ukrainian and Ruthenian minorities from the city, especially for cooperation of Košice and partner city Uzhhorod, as well as for the interaction by organising the traditional Days of Friendship on the Slovak-Ukrainian border. Mayor especially praised the work with minorities in Eastern Slovakia during the mission of Mrs. Ohnivets in our country. He has called for the strengthening of cross-border cooperation with Ukraine. He particularly pointed to the opportunity to jointly support the project of the European Commission "Eastern Partnership" where Ukraine can play an important role.
Mrs. Inna Ohnivets was the Consul General from 2003 to 2005 and since 2006 the Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovakia.
