The Agreement of Cooperation between the Archive of Košice and the Hungarian Regional Archive in Budapest was signed on Monday (02. 06. 2010) at the premises of the Hungarian Regional Archive in Budapest by Mayor of Košice, František Knapík, and the General Director of the Hungarian Regional Archive in Budapest, Reisz T. Csaba, in the presence of outgoing General Director Prof. Lajos Gecsényi, representatives of Hungarian Academy of Science, Military Historical Institution, University of Peter Pázmány, and the Archive of Budapest.
The Archive of Košice and the Hungarian Regional Archive in Budapest have been cooperating for several years in organizing joint conferences, exhibitions, workshops and seminars. Under the Agreement of Cooperation the parties agreed to continue in developing their cooperation in the area of archive activities and disclosure of archive documents, in order to enhance the level of education and cultural awareness of citizens through knowledge of Slovak and Hungarian history recorded and kept in the archives. The cooperation is aimed at building such information systems that would help strengthen relationships on the level of science and expertise between the two archives. The parties also agreed to look for opportunities of cooperation in joint projects between the two states, funded by EU or other sources, that would result in digitization of medieval writings and early-modern- times documents, kept in the archives, and creation of an online database which would enable research without having to go to the archive.
