The Slovak President visited Košice

The Slovak President during her visit in Košice had a 30-minute meeting with the city management in the Historical Town Hall. The main topics of the meeting involved: social policy, transport, employment including the situation in the large Košice Company U.S. Steel. The head of the state asked questions about the potential remission of the city debt in amount of 15,2 millions of Euro that was requested by the Mayor of the City of Košice, Jaroslav Polaček (independent). He has written an official letter in this matter to the Prime Minister, Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) and asked him for a meeting. The President, accompanied by the Mayor, visited during her stay in Košice the Heat exchange station at Štítova Street where she could chat with the seniors who had there that time English lesson. She visited also the exhibition of hand-made works and works of art of the group Košické Terasanky. She said the reconstruction of the heat exchange station was a great project. Afterwards the President visited also the Office of the Košice Self-government Region; she met the representatives of the IT sector in Košice. In the afternoon she accepted in her Košice Office several personalities of the Košice Region. In the evening she opened the gala-program in occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Carpathian Foundation in Kulturpark and afterwards she visited the opera performance in the State Theatre Košice where there was the opera Falstaff of Giuseppe Verdi on the program.
