On March 17th to 19th, 2010 6 pupils aged 12 to 16 years and their teachers from the Special Primary School Opatovská cesta 97 in Košice will take part in the International Championship in Cooking for pupils with mild mental disabilities at the invitation of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the City of Katowice and in cooperation with the City of Košice.
"The intention of the competition, which organiser is the Group of Special Schools in Katowice, is the intellectual integration of pupils with disabilities, their familiarization with the culture of other nations, promoting healthy lifestyle, development of manual skills through working in a group as well as development of their imagination," said Helena Jeníková, Head of the Department of Education of the Magistrate Office of the City of Košice.
The contestants will have occasion to introduce their country through a prepared meal and also in a form of a short presentation about their country and region which is represented by them. The result of the competition will not only be prepared meals, but also a jointly created cookbook.
